What have you heard about Italian food? Sure, it’s delicious, but is it healthy? Is Italian food in Colorado authentic? Isn’t it just noodles smothered in rich sauces?

There are plenty of myths about Italian food circulating around the Internet, but as one of the few remaining family-owned and operated Italian restaurants in the region, we feel it’s our duty to separate fact from fiction. Here are some of the more popular myths we hear.

  1. Italian food is just noodles.

When most people think of Italian food, they conjure images of pasta and pizza. But Italian cuisine is so much more! At 3 Sons Italian, we have a wide variety of options to choose from, including salads, chicken dishes, seafood entrees, calzones, sandwiches and event fried chicken on Sundays!

  1. American-Italian food isn’t authentic.

Our family is Italian and we have recipes that have been handed down through the generations. We make our noodles from scratch and buy our sausage from our son, Gino Scarafiotti, who owns Belfiore’s Sausage. Susan’s mother, Rose, was generous enough to share some of her best recipes, including our scrumptious meatballs and the house-made red sauce.

  1. Italian food isn’t healthy.

There’s a misconception that Italians smother everything in cheese or rich sauce. While those dishes are certainly available on our menu, we have plenty of healthy alternatives that aren’t deep fried, made with cream or topped with melted cheese. From baked chicken and steamed mussels to soups and salads, you’ll find plenty of options that don’t require you to be on a “cheat day” from your diet. In addition, we have quite a few dairy-free and gluten-free alternatives!

We encourage you to stop by 3 Sons Italian in Arvada to taste true Italian cuisine. In addition to our regular menu, we offer rotating specials, as well as live entertainment and fundraisers for the community.
